Imaging Southeast Asia (iSEA) Conference 2025

iSEA 2025 Conference Concludes Successfully in Malaysia

The first Imaging Southeast Asia (iSEA) Conference, themed “Building Imaging Networks across Southeast Asia,” was held on November 12–13, 2025, at Monash University Malaysia (Subang Jaya, Malaysia).

Preceded by a hands-on workshop on light and electron microscopy at the Institute of Bioscience, Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) on November 10–11, the hybrid event drew imaging scientists, researchers, and facility staff for discussions on microscopy advancements, data analysis, and regional collaboration.

Notably, Dr. Emil C. Lat (University of the Philippines Los Baños, BIOTECH) delivered an insightful talk on the “Status of Bioimaging in the Philippines: Strengths, Challenges, and Opportunities,” offering a sobering but encouraging picture about the bioimaging landscape in the country.

Filipino participants joined from the Philippines on-site and online alongside peers from Malaysia, Indonesia, Singapore, Thailand, Australia and beyond. A STEM outreach on November 14 engaged local communities, fostering future talent.
